December 19: 2.91 miles

This running in the run-up to Christmas thing is once again more complicated than I thought!  Since last Thursday, the game has been called on account of snow and ice.  And after tonight, I might well be pinned down by company from out of town.  So, I snuck in a little trip to the park tonight.  It was a nice little reminder to myself that yes, I'm still running, and I collected a fair haul of Pokemon monsters to boot.  And, it nibbled me down to 22.01 miles to the 500 mile mark for 2016.  Half a year is better than none!

December 12: 3.02 miles

You'd think somebody as fond of the running/statistics overlap as I am would like laps.  But actually I hate laps.  For this reason, my go-to short run is two-laps-around-the-park.  Tonight, I ran three laps around the park, which felt like going the extra mile.  In truth, it was only going the extra 2/3 mile.

December 11: 5.67 miles

With the weather settling down a bit, I logged 5 2/3 miles around the neighborhood.  That was the best 11th of 2016, and a five-year best for December 11th, so that's reasonably satisfying.

I was looking at my cumulative running-by-date for December, which is shown here in the thick purple line.  You can see that December is pretty mediocre in general compared to the other months.  What I think is funny, though, is the way that you can see mileage dry up from about now through the next two weeks in the run-up to Christmas.  Once Christmas Eve gets here, things bump up to about their winter normals again.

If there is a long-term future to this graph, the pre-Christmas slump is probably a permanent part of it.
